Contraception

Contraceptive agents are designed to prevent pregnancy and employ a range of mechanisms. Typically, they are categorized as hormonal or nonhormonal. Hormonal contraceptives generally operate by altering a woman’s hormone levels to simulate pregnancy, which in turn inhibits the release of eggs from the ovary. In contrast, nonhormonal contraceptive agents or devices function by preventing the union of a man’s sperm and a woman’s egg.
